About Rod

Founder and owner, Rod da Rosa, was born in Newport, South Wales. His musical journey started at the age of 5 playing the piano at home and has been involved with music and songwriting ever since he found an old guitar in his attic!

Rod has 25+ years songwriting and recording experience including being signed; has tracks published globally for film and TV; worked with some the UK's finest producers and engineers (who have recorded artists such as Paul Weller, The Rolling Stones, Ocean Colour Scene, Primal Scream, Bob Marley and more), Rod continues the journey and has built his own studio at home in Oxfordshire.

After sharing London studios like at Tile Yard with Mark Ronson in the next room, it was apparent that this was an expensive way to record every month in a room that was small and lacked vibe.

After moving out of London he challenged himself to see if he could design and build an alternative studio to the 'box-clad' standard garden rooms that are everywhere. To come up with something unique, interesting but functional. i.e. soundproof but shaped with the best acoustics in mind whilst saving 20% compared to a garden room equivalent if he did some of the basic DIY tasks as possible?

That's exactly what he's done and this space is not just a room but it's a creative space where you can shut the door on the world and make noise, play drums and piano, to have the freedom to create without disturbing anyone else in the next room!

This is why the studio was built and from people asking how he was able to build it and save literally thousands of pounds in the process is how Ownmade was born! Now, he is on a mission to write, record and release as many tracks as possible and help others along the way build their very own studio that's made their own way!
